2009 might not have been the most ideal year
for most financial recruiters, but I spent the last year
working on a completely new business model for Adams, Inc.
This serves all of our clients and candidates more
effectively. On January 1st of this year, we
implemented a new program, Market Mastery. Since I
started the company 27 years ago, our recruiters have

enjoyed tremendous success and recognition
from clients nationwide by being able to work anywhere in
the country. Market Mastery allows each of our
recruiters to pick a geographical territory, becoming the
market insider and getting to know every single person and
company in their market space. We know that
being a market expert will enhance our credibility in the
markets we serve. It is our opinion that a superior
recruiter is one who has the ability to be an active
participant in their client's industry and a master of that
client's market. Each recruiter's market must be small
enough that they are able to maintain a level of dominance
in terms of industry expertise in that segment.
However, it must also be large enough that it can provide
enough space to serve the largest audience possible.
We have come up with an acronym called "FILL" - function,
industry, location and level - a great way of ensuring that
we meet all of the appropriate criteria for the market
mastery. Our recruiters now have the right combination
of these four criteria in order to ensure that they truly
understand their client's market! We are constantly
striving to find new ways to bring more value to all of you
